Do you every have an epiphany, you know that “Ah HA” #moment where everything seems so clear?
The other day I was thinking about my #life, everything I’ve experienced, leading me to this moment.
When I was in elementary school, I was in a speech class with other special needs children. For many summers during my teenage years, I worked at a camp for special needs children & young adults called Camp Lee Mar. Being in a class with special needs children taught me about #compassion & working at Camp Lee Mar taught me #patience, #understanding, and how to #appreciate what I have.
I can see that all of my #experiences in life have taught me something.
Going through what I went through with my injury & ending up #disabled has taught me so many things! It taught me & continues to teach me what it’s really like to live with a #disability, what it’s really like to pursue my #dreams as a #photographer with a disability, what it’s like to #travel with a disability, and how people with #disabilities are viewed & treated in today’s #society.
All of these experiences led me to create a platform where I can help bring #awareness to what is really #accessible to a disabled photographer like me. -Denise Vasquez
