Get Outdoors!

I’ve been personally dealing with the #challenges #disabled people constantly have to face when #venturing #outdoors for many years now. It takes a lot of #research to find out where the #ADA #accessible #places are. I hope that someday our #society (#parks, #banks, #stores, #airplanes, #housing...) will not only comply by the ADA #Law, but #respect, #acknowledge & #include disabled people when making #decisions that pertain to #accessibility.

Every #disability is unique and I can only speak for myself, but I am available to #consult with anyone who wants to ask a disabled person like me what I've experienced and what is needed to make things more accessible. I am #human #being & I would like to have #equal #access like everyone else to anywhere I’d like to go, especially outdoors! #Change begins with #awareness, #communication, #community and #inclusion.

I love the outdoors & I love connecting with #nature! Every time I stop, look & listen, especially when in nature, I #learn something! The other day as I was feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, watching the squirrels playing in the grass, hearing the birds sing & watching a school of Bat Rays swim by, I felt #calm, at #peace & #happy!

Nature is #healing & everyone should have access to experience moments of #tranquility, peace & #happiness like this outdoors!

Finding accessible parks close to home has been a challenge, but after doing research & going to different parks that were either too crowded, too loud, not fully accessible...I finally found my favorite park, which is now my go to place whenever I want to get outdoors. The challenges I face being disabled can be frustrating & discouraging at times, but I won’t give up! I refuse to allow the barriers & obstacles to stop me from pursuing my #dreams, living my #life & being happy! I’ll be doing a “How Accessible Is Accessible” @youtube #video at this #location & other #locations soon! I’m getting my 2nd #vaccination today so I’ll be back on the #road soon! Have a great day & Get Outdoors!
